Sorting a big bookkeeping mess!

Jan was asked to take over the finances of a multi-site business with well over 500 employees.

Within a week of starting, Jan was told by his departing predecessor of £5m of errors in the accounts. These were principally caused by poor financial control over several years; most of the financial figures that were being produced were inaccurate and not being adequately checked. Jan spent 3 months investigating the situation before concluding that the business was losing £350k per month and he then started a project to successfully check and sort out the problems, in particular focussing on sorting out the bookkeeping records across all the sites.
