About Me

About Me

Hello I am Jan, a Chartered Accountant who has had a very varied career as a finance professional, originally as a full time Finance Director (for over 15 years) working across a wide variety of different business sectors, then as founder in 2005 and Director of The Sanders Partnership, a firm of Chartered Accountants.

My experience is fairly unique across both business and practice: an experienced Finance Director who has detailed day to day knowledge of personal and business tax. I continue to act as Finance Director mentor, sharing my experiences across a number of clients at The Sanders Partnership. My colleagues Thomas and Marie in The Sanders Partnership, Chartered Accountants, also help mentor clients.

I also have an MBA from the Management Centre at Bradford University and a Law Degree. Latterly I qualified as a DipPFS, Diploma in Personal Finance.

My passion is to help others succeed and get control of their lives, through using my finance skills, whether that is to make lots more profit through their business or to achieve other more personal goals. I also get a buzz from sorting peoples tax affairs out.

I believe in life long earning and still take and pass exams. All the staff in The Sanders Partnership, our sister accountancy practice business, are actively developing themselves and learning in a positive way (we currently have 4 Apprentice trainees in the practice!). I have recently been accredited to offer probate services by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

I also have a track record of helping businesses sort out their accounting and bookkeeping “messes” from very small businesses, employing one person up to quite large ones employing several hundred working multi-site, plc subsidiary.

Finally, I am involved in offering my time free to help various groups including The Suzy Trust, a charity alleviating poverty across the world, recently retired Trustee of The Community Foundation for Wakefield District but still an active supporter, also a Director of The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and until recently a Governor of New College Pontefract and Member of the New Collaborative Learning Trust (MAT including New College Pontefract).

My interests are football (a life long follower of Sheffield United FC, the Blades!), listening to music of all sorts from choral polyphony to electronic (dance) music (!), reading history and crime books, and catching up on all the TV box sets I’ve missed over the years…
